One rule I now refuse to break

But here's my own mistake: I swapped the housing on my personal vehicle, called it done, and didn't touch the thermostat housing or crossover pipe while everything was apart. The bigger issue: price is only half the battle, interval is the other half. Some engines need a belt at 60,000 miles. Others go to 105,000. And a lot of modern engines use timing chains that have no set interval at all. Follow the OEM maintenance schedule, not a mechanic's rule of thumb.
The lesson I learned: In 2022, I standardized a fleet's maintenance on a single mileage interval without checking individual engine specs. "Seventy-five thousand miles is normal, right?" My position: A vendor who says "we do everything" is a vendor who hasn't read the regulations. When a supplier tells me what they won't do, I trust them more on what they will do.
I'd rather work with a specialist who knows their limits than a generalist who overpromises.
