The right bolt is a specific replacement for the vehicle, not a generic bin bolt. Some caliper bracket bolts are torque-to-yield, which means they are designed for one-time use. If the service procedure says new bolts, use new bolts. Do not reuse an old TTY bolt just because the threads look clean.

When I order brake parts, I include the correct mounting bolts in the same order. I also check the service data for the torque spec. Some require torque angle after the initial torque, and skipping that step can leave the bolt under tension. That kind of mistake does not always fail right away. It fails later, when the customer is on the highway.

Where is the 2006 Silverado fuel filter, and how often should you replace it?

On most 2006 Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks, the fuel filter is mounted on the driver-side frame rail under the cab, generally ahead of the rear axle and behind the transmission. The exact location can vary with wheelbase and cab configuration, so the safest way to find it is to follow the fuel line from the tank toward the engine.

The owner's manual schedules I have seen for this generation often called for a new 2006 Silverado fuel filter every 30,000 miles. In practice, a lot of these trucks have never had one. A clogged filter can mimic a failing fuel pump. You get long cranking, weak acceleration under load, or a truck that starts but stumbles when you ask for power.

Before you quote a fuel pump on an older Silverado, check the filter. It is cheaper than a pump, and it is part of the maintenance schedule anyway. Replacement requires relieving fuel pressure, disconnecting the battery, and using a proper quick-disconnect tool. Yes. Timing belt pulleys, especially the idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley, work with the belt on every revolution. The belt can look fine after 60,000 miles while a pulley bearing is already rough. A rough bearing can seize, snap the belt, and cause valve damage on an interference engine. That turns a routine timing belt job into an engine repair.

Here's the thing: replacing only the timing belt is false economy. The labor is the expensive part. If I am already in there, I want the Dorman timing belt pulleys on hand so the job gets done once. On engines with multiple idler pulleys, do not assume they are all the same. Match each pulley to its correct position and torque.

People think throttle bodies fail by age. The reality is carbon contamination causes most of the trouble. By 80,000 to 100,000 miles, many engines accumulate enough carbon to cause a rough idle, a cold-start stumble, or even a stall when the engine returns to idle. Cleaning the throttle body is often the first step. Use a cleaner that is safe for the throttle plate and sensors. Do not spray the electronic connector. If cleaning fixes the issue, you just saved the customer a couple hundred dollars.

If the engine still has a throttle position code, a sticking plate, or visible wear in the bore, replacement is the fix. Dorman sells complete throttle bodies for a lot of applications. Some come with sensors included, and some do not. Check the product page before ordering.
