The cheapest part is almost never the cheapest part
I'm the office administrator for a 40-person logistics company. That sounds like a job where I sit behind a desk and file invoices, but really I manage every part order for our fleet. Last fall, our front office manager said 'my ecobee thermostat is off' and the building was cold. She wanted me to order a new thermostat. I asked one question: 'Did you check the breaker?' The ecobee was fine; a GFCI outlet had tripped. The fix cost nothing.

That's why I have no problem saying Dorman makes good parts, but they're not the right fit for every vehicle. A Google Nest thermostat is overkill for a storage unit. An ecobee is useless if your wiring won't support it. And a Dorman 4x6 headlight bucket is pointless if your truck doesn't use a 4x6 sealed beam. Fit matters more than brand loyalty.
Bottom line: do the thinking before you click 'buy'

I look up the exact part number. I cross-check the application list. I ask whether the vehicle will outlive the part. I check the wiring or the mounting points if the failure could be system-related. If you take one thing from this, take it: the cheapest part is not a bargain if it puts your vehicle in the shop twice. The best part is not a waste if it saves you a second repair. Sort by fit, failure cost, and expected life. Let the price tag be the last thing you look at, not the first.
